Thursday, 6/23/2011

On that Thursday, the backpackers hiked 6.9 miles from Seely-Woodworth shelter to the The Priest shelter. Unfortunately there was rain in the middle of the day that kept us from climbing Spy Rock. The final climb up The Priest mountain going northbound is no joke, but it's much easier than going southbound! Everyone enjoyed reading the trail journal at the shelter. The hikers write their confessions for The Priest. Get it?

How to make the hike to The Priest shelter more
fun - celebrate every 100 steps! (This lasted ~400 steps.)
The northbound Priest ascent. It's tough, but
not nearly as brutal as the southbound ascent.

Back in NC:
"Squeeeeeeeze the boy!"
"Have a good day at work, Daddy!"
"Hrm, whatever that was Memaw, let's not eat it again."
"Higher!"
"Put it in reverse!"
"The fish are hungry, Dad."
