In an effort to catch up, I'm going to have to let the pictures tell the story of the day!

First haircut, bike trailer, NC storms

Our big event on Saturday was Greg's first haircut! We have trimmed around his ears several times in the past, but it was time to shorten the hair all over his cute baby noggin. We squeezed his big legs into the Bumbo and sat him on the kitchen island. I was curious what he would think of the hair clippers. Would he be afraid and cry? Would he sit still? We were pleasantly surprised with his reaction. He was happy as a clam as long as he had a toy to hold.
Ready for his haircut!
Before

We began the haircut with a ceremonious trimming of the baby curls. Everyone loved his curls and I was sad to cut them off. I was able to get a good collection of curl to save for his baby book.

Then we moved onto the rest of the hair. Currently the longest clipper guide that we have is the #8, which cuts a length of one inch. We buzzed his whole head with it. Goodbye long baby hair! We also ended up using the #7 (7/8 inch) on the sides and back.
"Here Mom, I'll do it!"
"Well, this is interesting."
"What do you think, Dad?"
"I'd like a little more off the back, please."

Andrew and I love Greg's new haircut! I am going to purchase a longer clipper guide - either a 1 1/4 inch or 1 1/2 inch - so that we can leave the hair on the top a little longer.

Ready for summer

During Greg's second nap, Andrew and I put together the bike trailer. I was able to purchase the Burley Bee on sale at REI. It is a great product and easy to put together! We hooked it up to my mountain bike and I took it for a spin up and down our street without baby. It is so light and rolls well - you don't even feel the trailer behind you! I am really looking forward to using it with Greg.
Yay! Bike trailer!

More shenanigans from the afternoon:
"I'm going to check out Hank's crib."
"Mama, you're so silly, I'm ready to get out now."

Late Saturday afternoon, our state was hit with several intense tornadoes. We were lucky to only experience heavy rainfall and gusty winds. Other North Carolinians to our south and east were not as fortunate and our thoughts are with them.

Weekly picture, Crossroads errands, playgroup park fun, mohawk

We had a busy Friday!

I forgot to take Greg's weekly picture on Thursday, so we rushed to get it done before Andrew went to work. I can't get a smile for the weekly picture without Daddy's help anymore!
Week 45

After Greg's first nap, we headed over to Crossroads for a few errands, most notably to pick up the bike trailer from REI. So excited! We somehow ended up in the Taco Bell drive-thru on the way home. Crazy, I know!

After nap #2, we joined our playgroup friends at a park. Greg crawled from blanket to blanket to check out everyone's toys. One mom was lying down, so he took that as an invitation to climb all over her. He also had fun in the swing for a while. The weather was beautiful! The spring colors looked amazing on the new camera.
I love this picture!

"Come here, froggy blanket."

Greg got a bath on Friday night and we gave him a final ceremonial mohawk. The first haircut was to happen the next day!

Happy to have a mohawk!

Open and close, Greg's bike helmet

Thursday was an around-the-house day. Greg loves exploring the upstairs. Anywhere he can find cabinets or drawers to open and close is a highlight for him.
He's holding it like he is reading a newspaper
"Who is on the computer?"
"Hi Hank!"
"Another cabinet to explore!"
"This cabinet door is delicious!"

Midday I did some research for a toddler helmet for Greg. A few weeks ago, I ordered a bike trailer from REI. They emailed earlier this week to say that it had arrived, so it was time to get the boy a helmet!

I called around to several bike shops to see what they had in stock. Everyone seemed to have the Trek Little Dipper or the Specialized Small Fry, but a store called the Bicycle Chain had both. So they won the prize! Greg and I headed over there after his afternoon nap. Within minutes of our arrival, the young sales gal and I were sitting on the floor with Greg attempting to adjust the helmet on his head. Easier said than done on a moving target! We chose the Specialized Small Fry in a red doggy theme.

Oh Wednesday, we hardly knew thee

Well, Wednesday is now a blur in the past. Greg and I did go on a walk with the dogs in the afternoon, that's about all I can remember.

Here are some pictures though!

Back deck, maracas and cymbals, playgroup

Apparently I took a lot of pictures on Tuesday - and on three different cameras. I generally have one downstairs and one upstairs so I don't miss a moment! I'm also getting used to the new camera, but limiting the pictures since the memory card hadn't arrived yet.

We started off the morning with some time on the back deck. I leave the door open for the dogs so they can come and go as they please. Greg figured out how to crawl over the threshold by himself!
"Everything appears to be nominal in the dominion."

"This is a new view!"
Approach #2, Hank grows weary
Greg goes out on the deck again, Hank goes inside
"What? It's safer in here!"
"Oh man!"

Afterwards we spent some time in the office, then went to our bedroom to put away laundry. I enjoyed the musical stylings of Gregory Freed on the maracas and cymbals.
"This thingamabob is delicious!"
"I'm going to rearrange this drawer for Daddy."
Shaking both maracas
"Making music is hard work!"

Keeping me guessing as always, Greg took awesome naps on Tuesday and I wasn't complaining! It was so nice after two straight days of no afternoon nap. I told him that it wasn't cool to go from three naps down to one nap in less than two weeks! We were almost an hour late for playgroup because of the sleepyhead, but we still had a fun time!
