Memaw and Pop-pop's visit: Saturday recap

The hard work continued on Saturday, but first Greg checked out his new xylophone with Pop-pop.
"This xylophone is delicious!"

The main job for the day was tilling the yard to blend in the compost, but there was time to mix up the garden box soil before the tiller pickup time. It is 1/3 compost, 1/3 peat moss, and 1/3 vermiculite. The best way to combine it is by rolling the pile back and forth on a tarp.

At 10:00 AM, the guys went to get the tiller and for the next few hours it was till till till! Memaw and I stayed busy with Greg and other odds and ends. There was one not happy about the tiller, and the first guess doesn't count. Yes, it was Scout!

When I went to get Greg from his second nap, I was in for a surprise. There he was, standing up in his crib! He was quite upset and wanted to be picked up right away. After he calmed down, I put him back in the crib so I could take pictures of a reenactment.

Greg tried yogurt for the first time at lunch. He made a unpleasant face with the first bite, but then seemed to enjoyed it from then on. I think he reacted that way because it was his first food that was served cold.
Mmmm... yogurt!

I had been looking on Craig's List for a while for a sandbox, but so far I had no luck. Memaw asked around and there was a family looking to get rid of their turtle sandbox, and they gave it to us for free! Memaw and Pop-pop brought it down to us all of the way from Pennsylvania. Greg thought that the sand was very interesting! Luckily his first instinct was not to put a handful of it in his mouth, but I know that time is coming.

After the tilling was completed, they finished up by seeding, fertilizing, and putting straw down on the yard.

Now that the yard was done (whew!), we focused our attention on the garden. We drew out the grid and figured out what to plant. Then it was down to the garden boxes to sow some seeds!

While we were busy working outside, Greg worked on standing at the music table with all four legs on it!
"This two-legged table is too easy to stand up on, give me a challenge!"
"That's more like it!"

We walked up to Five Guys for dinner. Delicious burgers and fries!

Memaw and Pop-pop brought several other toys for Greg and we checked them out when we got home from dinner. He got a big box of Duplo Legos and a music set with a drum, maracas, tambourine, and cymbals. I don't know who had the most fun with the Duplos - Greg, Andrew, or me!
"Drumsticks are delicious!"
"Cymbals are delicious!"
"Let me check out that maraca and see if it's delicious."
A whole lot of Duplos

Andrew made us fruit smoothies for dessert and we played another two games of Settlers of Catan.
